Newmont Tanami is on Aboriginal freehold land 540km northwest of Alice Springs. It is a long-life, low-cost, world-class asset in a core Newmont region. The Tanami Expansion 2 project, aims to extend the mine life beyond 2040, investing in a hoisting shaft which will increase the production of the underground mine from 2.6 Mtpa to 3.2 Mtpa. Both the successful exploration within the underground operation and implementation of the first Tanami Expansion has laid the foundation to further develop the operation to remain a major contributor to the Newmont portfolio. A fully equipped camp is located 40km from the site offering leisure facilities for those flying in from Perth, Brisbane, Alice Springs or Darwin.

Your Impact
We are seeking expression of interests from experience underground development all-rounders. Reporting to the Development Supervisor, you’ll play a key role in delivering safe and efficient underground development activities at Newmont Tanami. As an experienced allrounder, you’ll contribute across drilling, ground support, bogging and rehabilitation, ensuring development headings are completed to plan while upholding Newmont’s strong safety culture.
Responsibilities shall encompass a variety of underground development tasks. These include, operating the Jumbo, providing development ground support and rehabilitation activities and conducting face drilling, Be experienced with operating a cable bolter, and carrying out bogging duties and assisting with charge up as required within the underground mine.
As part of our team, you will
- Possess extensive experience in underground operations and be skilled in all facets of.
- Jumbo Drill
- Cable Bolter
- Bogging operations (including Charge Up duties when required)
- Accurately drill blast holes and install ground support, including cable bolting, to design
- Operate underground boggers to bog development headings, load trucks and conduct roadworks
- Conduct pre-start inspections of equipment and work areas each shift
- Maintain accurate records and communicate progress and metrics to Mine Control
- Inspect ground conditions and support prior to commencing work
- Ensure development is completed to design with minimal overbreak
- Participate in training, development and safety programs as directed
- Maintain high standards of housekeeping and safe work practices
Prerequisites for your success in this role
- Proven underground mining experience (Essential)
- Proven competency operating Jumbos, Cable Bolters, Boggers and Charge-Up equipment
- Strong knowledge of drilling, charging and ground support techniques
- Sound understanding of varying ground conditions and development requirements
- Ability to follow plans, procedures and supervisor instructions
- Strong communication skills and ability to work effectively in a team
- Commitment to safety, hazard identification and continuous improvement
- A current C class manual drivers' licence.

- Nationally accredited Working at heights
- A Senior First Aid (Desirable)

Working an 2weeks onsite (1 week of days 1 week of nights) 2 weeks offsite, FIFO roster and reside in our fully equipped accommodation village.
